We were very pleased to continue the tradition and sponsor a race at Higham Point to Point on Saturday 2nd April. The weather was glorious and many turned out for the meet. Griffin Chapman has sponsored a race at Higham for many years. This year it was the open Maiden Race, which was split into two races owing to the number of entries. The first race was won by ISKRABOB, ridden by Oz Wedmore owned by The Random Optimists Partners and trained by Rose Grissell. The second race was won by TORRAN NA STONN ridden by Richard Collinson, owned by The OAP Partnership and trained by Andrew and Ruth Pennock.
This year’s Colchester Half Marathon, sponsored by Griffin Chapman, raised a staggering £55,000. The money raised was split between The Tom Bowdidge Foundation and The Robin Cancer Trust. Senior Partner Carolynn Pissarro said: “We’re very happy to be supporting the event. It’s a healthy and challenging activity that is great for Colchester, attracting runners from across the region. It’s a testament to the organisers that the event continues to grow year after year.”
