Griffin Chapman were once again proud to be title sponsors of the record-breaking Colchester Half Marathon which took place last Sunday, starting and finishing at The Weston Homes Community Stadium, home of Colchester United.

This year's event has been hailed as the biggest and best to date, with 4,000 runners registered, 200+ volunteers and thousands of spectators lining the route.

The organisers, Colchester Colne Round Table, will be giving their profits (in excess of £50k) to their chosen charity - The Essex and Herts Air Ambulance Trust. Furthermore, runners raised an estimated £500k for other local causes and the positive impact on the local economy has been immeasurable.

But, as an editorial piece in a regional newspaper noted "...Sums like that are academic really. The true value of such an event is the money it helps charities raise, the extra visitors to our borough, and in particular Colchester town centre, and, most importantly, the sense of community it creates.

"It shows Colchester in its most professional, creative, welcoming and attractive light. Top marks to the organisers once again."

Carolynn Pissarro, Senior Partner, commented "We've been involved with the event since its inception seven years ago, the past two as the title sponsor.

"It's now cemented its position as one of the top community sporting events in the region and we are proud to continue to support such a healthy challenge. We look forward to the next chapter in its history."
